Sort of? I was driving home from Cleveland one year for winter break, and it was HELLA blizzarding. I was about to Ashland, when traffic REALLY started to slow down. I don’t know what happened behind me, but the car directly behind me started skidding, and swirled around and off the road. This must have created a domino effect, and the next thing I see in my rear-view mirror is a semi jack-knifing toward the back of my car. There was nothing I could do, so I braced myself for impact, hands on the wheel, and closed my eyes (I was stopped with nowhere to go…) And somehow, I have NO idea how, the driver got control of the truck. It happened so fast.
I don’t think I thought I was going to die, but it was really scary. All I could think of was bracing myself for the hit. My mind didn’t process further than that. I wonder if it was because I didn’t think I was going to die, or because that’s how my mind works in near death situations. Something I’ll probably never know.
